Home & Accommodation Support

A safe and accessible home environment is essential for independence, comfort and wellbeing. For many people living with disability, standard home layouts can create unnecessary barriers that make everyday activities difficult or unsafe.

Home modifications involve custom changes made to a home so that it can be accessed and used safely and comfortably by the person living there. These changes may be small adjustments such as installing grab rails or larger structural works such as modifying a bathroom or installing ramps.

At Angelonia Care, we work closely with participants, occupational therapists and qualified trades to ensure every modification is designed around the individual’s needs and daily routines. Our goal is to make homes safer, easier to navigate and better suited to independent living.

Here are some of the most common modifications we do:

Bathroom Accessibility Improvements

Bathrooms are one of the most common areas where accessibility changes are required. Modifications can be made to improve safety and support individuals with mobility challenges during daily personal care routines.

These improvements may include the installation of grab rails and support bars, walk-in or roll-in showers, shower seating, hand-held shower heads, non-slip flooring and accessible toilet supports. These changes help reduce the risk of slips and falls while making everyday tasks more comfortable and manageable.

Ramps and Step Access

Ramps can improve access for individuals who use wheelchairs, mobility aids or experience difficulty with stairs. They provide a gradual and stable surface that allows safer movement into and around the home.

Ramps may be installed at entrances, between areas with different floor levels or in outdoor spaces such as patios and pathways. These adjustments make it easier to move in and out of the home while supporting greater independence.

Doorway and Hallway Adjustments

Narrow doorways and tight hallways can make it difficult for people using mobility aids to move freely within their home. Accessibility modifications can help create more space and improve ease of movement between rooms.

This may include widening doorways, adjusting hallway layouts, or installing sliding and accessible door systems. These changes allow participants to navigate their home more comfortably and safely.
